Winner of Second Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Competition 2007, Alexander Robin Baker was born in 1985. Currently, he is studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the Post Graduate Vocal Studies Course under the tuition of David Pollard. Alexander Robin Baker is kindly supported by the Maidment Scholarship administered by the Musicians Benevolent Fund and the Boise Scholarship, the former giving him the opportunity to take part in Masterclasses with Dame Ann Murray.
He has appeared at Oxford Lieder, and made his BBC Proms début in August 2007 singing David Mathews' Marina in the Composers' Portrait series, broadcast live on Radio 3. He has appeared at the Aldeburgh, Chipping Campden and Ponte de Lima, Portugal, Festivals, and has worked with the Brandenburg Sinfonia, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia, under conductors including Martyn Brabbins, Sir Andrew Davies and Frank Ollu.
His engagements include Eternal Light: A Requiem for Rambert Dance Company, Messiah for Lund University Chamber Choir, Sweden, Haydn Stabat Mater for Worcester Festival Choral Society, Mozart Requiem in Chichester Cathedral, Carmina Burana for the Festival Chorus, a Baroque Gala for the Ten Tors Orchestra and an Opera Gala for Longborough Festival Opera.
